What is Urology?

Urology is the medical and surgical specialty that deals with problems of the male and female urinary tract (kidneys, ureter, bladder and urethra) and reproductive systems.

These problems include cancers (prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, and testicular cancer), impotence, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, infertility and urinary incontinence.

Because of the variety of clinical problems encountered, knowledge of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and other specialties is required of the urologist.
